Celebrate!

I hope you all enjoy my blog. As of today, there have been 2,000 page views from 28 countries! This is all very exciting and fun for me, and it is nice to know others might be enjoying it, too.      I always look for fun reasons to celebrate, and I believe this is one […]

A memory I don’t quite remember

This is one of the color drawings I drew during my first winter in Seattle. I tried to soothe my homesickness with drawings of lovely memories from my past life in Athens. This is me and Jen exploring a creek in southeastern Ohio, a memory that I’m no longer quite sure I remember…  I have […]

Athens in Autumn

My first winter in Seattle was difficult. The days were short and wet, and I fought off homesickness with drawings. I drew a series of color pictures titled “My Favorite Things”. They were memories of the things I missed most about Athens and my friends. I drew the pictures  in my small apartment while listening to John Coltrane […]

Oblivious Little Steve, 1992

This is one of a series of postcards I made in 1992. Whenever I backpacked into wilderness areas, I enjoyed  the beauty of the wilderness around me. I was occasionally oblivious to potential  dangers, such as trespassing into bear territory.         My niece has this postcard hanging on her wall.

Lady in the Rain

This is a sketch in ink and colored pencils I drew in 1993 for a book I self-published, Double Tall Latte, Please. The book is written with silly illustrations and Dr. Suess-style rhymes about where one might drink espresso: “Drink it in the morning rain, drink it in the carpool lane.”       I sent […]

Auggie and Delphina, 2011

This is an excerpt from Existential Fish: Auggie and Delphina are among my favorite characters in Episode Two of the “Neener Neener” cartoons. The toad that Delphina presents to Auggie (named Charles) becomes a major character as the story progresses.    As of today, Existential Fish is available in local bookstores in Athens, Ohio. It is […]

Paperboys Concert, 1998

Some of you may remember this night, especially those among our Chapter Five gang… The Paperboys were playing at an outdoor music festival in Seattle in 1998, and nobody in the crowd seemed to care that it was raining. Among the several people you might find here are Steve T., Leah, Peggy, Chrystal, and me. You know […]

The Drive Home (1992)

I remember the unbearable silence as we drove through the miles of wilderness along the North Fork of Glacier National Park. I didn’t know what to say, and if I had, I kept my mouth shut. (This seems a bit Thurber-esque, I think.)

The Mud Rat (2007)

This is a character from my book The Pirates of Piddleton  (2007) , the Mud Rat. He’s a collector and trader of Items of Interest, as well as a devious thief and master manipulator. Here, he brings necessary supplies to the pirates, but with ulterior motives.  The story takes place on another planet, which […]
