The Great Scavenger Hunt (part five)

If you want to see the previous four episodes of the Scavenger Hunt (a true story from my high school days), just go to the four previous posts of this blog, and you’ll find each episode in order.
Those of us who left the scene in my Dad’s car were among the few who escaped going to the police station to call our parents. There were only three or four of us old enough to drive cars, so anyone without a car had the opportunity to escape the police by slipping into the trees (and a few who actually jumped into the Hocking River to escape!). As for me, the final scene of the story above is not completely correct: I was grounded for coming home too late, but I was also forbidden to drive the car ever again because of the crack in the windshield and the general condition of the car. (I’d only had my driver’s license a couple months.) I didn’t drive a car again until midway through my senior year of college.
Which is probably for the best.
I hope you enjoyed this story.
