This is a character from my book The Pirates of Piddleton (2007) , the Mud Rat. He’s a collector and trader of Items of Interest, as well as a devious thief and master manipulator. Here, he brings necessary supplies to the pirates, but with ulterior motives. The story takes place on another planet, which explains the two moons on the horizon.
He reminds me a bit of Beatrix Potter’s rat, Samuel Clemens. (Remember him?)
Oops! My mistake — It wasn't Samuel Clemens, it was Potter's Samuel Whiskers, from The Tale of Samuel Whiskers or The Roly Poly Pudding.
