Turtle Island, 1989

I drew this in Joan and Sig’s house on Wallingford Ave. in 1989, our first time in Seattle, WA. (We all moved to the west coast within the next 2 years. I stayed for 11 years. Pibble’s still out there. Hibble is on the other side of the planet. There are too many stories to tell from that trip, but I’ll try to begin telling them. The first one is “Mt. Rainier”. I’ll use this map to help remember the great stories of this trip, and to try to do them justice with cartoons. (I’ll also have to go through that sketch book and find more evidence of our journey! I’ll post some of them, and let you know, Pibble!)

This is one of the older maps on display at UnionArts gallery in Athens, Ohio,. It’s a part of my “a secret map” show, and it will be in the gallery until the end of May. I’ll have a new presentation at the Athens Public Library in July.
